Yiannis Aggelakas is a Greek singer, songwriter and poet. He is considered as one of the most significant and unconventional artists of the Greek music scene since 1985. His success with the band "Trypes" ("Holes") is legendary and unforgettable. "Trypes" was the first band that introduced to the Greek audience the garage / post-punk music genres. Since 2001 Aggelakas is active as a solo artist, bustling and experimenting with a variety of genres and collaborating with various artists from the whole phase of the Greek music scene. Through a blend of folk-rock elements - that were always present at his previous work - and traditional “rebetiko” sounds, he creates unique new melodies and rhythms. Through his music a big part of the Greek music history is narrated.

Together with his band, consisting of Dinos Sadikis (baglama, guitar – co-founder of "En plo"), Christos Charbilas (electronics and percussion), Titos Karyiotakis (console and guitar) and Stathis Arabatzis (guitar), Yiannis Aggelakas will present on October 23, 2014 at Alte Kaserne in Zurich songs from his entire career.

For “Sinnbild” Yannis Aggelakas - with his melodies and lyrics - means free-thinking people, inspiration and a constant search for the new and the unknown.
